Wash Away
04:18
|
|||
Monday morning, 8am
moving underground with the rest of the condemned.
We all look away and keep to our own space.
The train is early but the world is running late.
In the carriage it's a hundred degrees.
Escape the huddle for the smoky tunnel breeze,
up through the doorway, onto the crowded street,
the city's wide awake but the people are asleep.
Rain, pour on me,
wash away all the creeps and the sleaze and disease
and let me be.
Homeward journeys don't help you survive.
You can't hope to live your life outside the nine to five.
Can't chase the politics and the backbiting away
when tomorrow is a duplicate of every other day.
Rain, pour on me,
wash away all the creeps and the sleaze and disease
and let me be.
Won't you fall from up above
cause I'm running low on love.
Rain, pour on me,
wash away all the creeps and the sleaze and disease
and let me be.

So Red Riding Hood got older.
Oh my big bad wolf, you grew colder.
But I can't underplay
how much I hate hearing your lies.
I don't blame you; I'm just saying,
our green field's been decaying,
and I can't overlook
the indifference I see in your eyes.
I Don't want a cuddle,
don't want to drink;
I'll forget what I'm feeling
if I get to drunk to think.
Don't want to put off
what I've got to do.
I don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay with you.
I see a new road
from the old blind dead ends.
Don't kiss me goodbye;
let's not pretend we'll be friends.
No words of yours could make me stay.
There's nothing useful left to say.
Sweet freedom will deliver,
from the forest to the river,
a new place to play
to forget, and get on with my life.
Woods I remember won't stop calling.
They're not safe but they're not boring.
‘Cause I just can't forget
when I lived on the edge of a knife.
And I'll run naked
through rain and heat.
Each blade of grass I tread
will bear the memory of my feet
And you'll still want me
to say, I do.
But I don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay,
don't want to stay with you.

Such A Fool
03:47
|

I remember when it was you and me,
it was you and me,
it was you and me,
in the sun.
Then you disappeared without telling me
without telling me,
without telling me,
what I'd done.
Your ex heard and he called today,
not knowing what to do or say.
So I told him
that you had been really cruel.
That you'd broken all the rules
when I really needed you.
He told me
you'd done it to him before.
He thought so but wasn't sure,
you weren't like that anymore
And he just wants you to know.
And he just wants you to know.
And he just wants you to know,
he thinks you're really cool
at being such a fool.
I hoped that I would hear from you,
I would hear from you,
I would hear from you,
given time.
You might understand to forget it all,
to forget it all,
to forget it all,
was a crime.
Now you ex is my new best friend
He doesn’t hold much hope you’ll understand.
So I told him
that you had been really cruel.
That you'd broken all the rules
when I really needed you.
He told me
you'd done it to him before.
He thought so but wasn't sure,
you weren't like that anymore
And he just wants you to know.
And he just wants you to know.
And he just wants you to know,
he thinks you're really cool
at being such a fool.
